Other reviewers have complained about the difficulty in assembling. I thought this was no more difficult than an Ikea desk, possibly easier. The main problem is in figuring out which part is which. Two of the small pieces of hardware were already attached to the relevant wood parts, but I assumed they'd be in the plastic bag with other screws and nuts, and was almost ready to send the whole thing back. The wooden parts are not well-illustrated, but they do give measurements. So, I recommend that you unpack everything, lay it all out, and put a sticky-note on or near each part with the part name. Once you do that, it is really not hard to put together. And once you do, it's a beauty! Seems quite sturdy, and although it's large, it does fold up nicely.

This easel is well made with quality materials. It is easily adjustable to virtually any size canvas or drawing that I would need. It looks nice set up in my studio as a display stand, and also can be folded up for storage. I am very pleased with this product and would recommend it to anyone interested in a studio easel

This is the best easel I own. The instructions are so vague, I still don't know where the brass plates go, but it seems to work without them. No one at Jerry's could tell me where they fit. Research with the manufacture didn't help either.

This easel offered no written instructions, but the pictures were pretty easy to follow, allowing quick and accurate setup.
The easel is fairly lightweight, yet sturdy and easy to adjust height and size.

As I said yesterday in my review of this product, I'll probably forget how hard it was to put it together. when you're not a repair man. Otherwise, since it was reduced, even if I had to pay S&H, I will enjoy using it, since I really needed an easel that doesn't tip over.

I use this product regularly for supporting my painting canvases. It is not too heavy to push around enabling me to aim it toward the window light.
However. I'm glad it was sale priced, since it took my son, who has an assortment of tools and the ability to use them, two days to put it together for me. The last two screws did not fit properly but he angrily managed to finish the job for me, because I'm his mother. I could not ever have done it myself. So, thank him for my being able to keep my easel.

Everything about this product is excellent - the size, adjustability, stability - we could find nothing else in its price range that was comparable. Only issue was one part needed to filed down to fit well. Also, written assembly instrutions were useless - web video solved the problem.

The Roma A-Frame Studio Easel is well built and very functional. I bought two of these for my artistic kids and they are thrilled.
The easel is easily adjustable for any size canvas and can be folded and moved around easily. We plan to use the easels mainly for home but we will take them to some art fairs this spring.
This is probably not the easel for those who need to transport it in a car but it could easily fit into a van or pickup truck.
Summary: very good product, good price and high quality, highly recommended.

Decent design. Assembly: instructions could be better; some parts didn't fit in pre-drilled holes and I had to ask my husband to open up them up a bit. After that, assembly was a breeze. Excellent value!

The easel itself is nice enough, but putting it together was quite difficult. There were extra hardware pieces that were not listed on directions. The parts should have been labeled either on the parts themselves or on the directions. Took much longer than I expected!

This is my first easel. I have to say that I picked it for the great price, but I am disappointed. You get what you pay for. I like the wood, and it did go together pretty easily despite the lacking instructions, but the adjustment hardware leaves a lot to be desired, and the strength and integrity are weak. Adjusting the canvas to a working height means the top of the easel is pushing the limits of some lower residential ceilings. I think this product is serving a purpose for me at this point, but should probably be considered a display easel, or for elementary school students. I should have spent more on an easel for me, but it's hard to tell what you're getting online.

I ordered six Roma easels to donate to my art school. I was disappointed and embarrassed because the quality is not very good. A piece broke off one the first time it was used. Also, although the middle wood piece moves up to accommodate big canvasses, they are not supported because the A-frame is very short. Even at a bargain price, these easels are no bargain.

Great easel for the money. Probably would have cost twice as much at a brick and mortar store. As everyone else noted, the assembly instructions are miserably lame. I relied on years of assembling IKEA furniture and it wasn't too hard to figure out how to put the easel together. If you've put something together from IKEA or Target then you can handle this. You're probably a visual person if you're reading this, so just use those skills.

While, once assembled, the Roma easel functions well, there are two drawbacks that glare. One, there are no step-by-step instructions for assembly. The info sheet has a small picture of the easel and a parts list, but nothing to follow for putting it together. Two, the main cross piece that holds artwork is attached to the sliding upright by only one connector which leaves a slight sway up and down for whatever is placed on it. Tightening the allen screw doesn't help...
On the positive side, the metal ratcheting slide is a gift in these days of sub-standard, Chinese hard plastics.

The easel itself is sturdy enough for both canvas and drawing work. It does tip forward which makes it nice for pastelists. My only complaint were the assembly instructions. They were not clear at all and not very helpful. I ended up paying someone to assemble it for me. Note: I am slightly assembly-challenged however.

The only reason I didn't give this easel 5 stars is because assembly was very difficult due to the poor directions that came with it. With the help of a friend it still took over an hour to get it put together ...mostly by trial and error. Once assembled, however, it is an excellent high quality studio easel. Three people I recommended it to also were pleased with their purchase.

This product was extremely hard to assemble. Instructions were not clear. I have bought the Roma Easel in the past and it was preassembled but about $30 more. I am usually happy to assemble products in exchange for saving$$-- that's half the fun. But this was so exasperating that, having purchased 2 easels nearly 2 months ago, currently only one is assembled, and I have a painting sitting on the basement floor instead of upon its intended easel. My son is an engineering major and lost all patience trying to help me out with it.
This problem could be resolved by the manufacturer simply by providing clearer assembly instructions.

I am an artist. It is my job. The easel is made from good quality wood and is sturdy. Unfortunately, there was a slot missing in order to put it together. After about 2 hrs of studying how to put it together I realized I wasn't an idiot, there was a definite design flaw. I needed it to finish a job and didn't have time to send it back and order a new one so I got my carpenter to alter it and make it functional.

Most of my color work I complete on my studio tables. I keep an easel or two around for my occasional "stand-up" work. I wanted a solid, forward tilting, inexpensive part-timer; the Roma turns out to be the gem. It has its size limitations but otherwise is solid and dependable.

This easel is great...once I got it put together. The directions were worthless though, and it took hours of trial and error to finally get it constructed. I almost gave up and sent it back. I had a friend order it at the same time, and she said she had the same problem. I'd recommend this to a friend only because it's a good buy for the money...as long as you are prepared to spend some sweat equity!

While a sturdy and great looking studio easel, it was not functional for me, as I am a pastel painter who likes to stand when painting and do smaller pieces. The bottom arm would not raise high enough for me to be able to stand and paint without placing my paper on a huge drawing board. Therefore I have to sit when using it. I did like the fact that it did not take up a great amount of room in my studio.

The product is beautiful and well designed. Very sturdy and versatile. We used it as a display stand in our showroom of furniture. People receognized the name at once. One caution - the assembly instructions are non-existant and it took us too loong to assemble the four that we ordered. But - once assembled - very nice.
